ROTARY LOBE PUMPS
Information on Rotary Lobe Pumps
Rotary Lobe pumps are Positive Displacement pumps that use two or more rotating lobes in a rotor case or chamber to move liquids. The rotors are located on shafts, which in turn are mounted within an external gearbox. The shafts to which rotors are located rotates in opposite direction when in motion. The external timing gears located in the gearbox transfers the energy from the drive shaft to the driven shaft that meshes the rotors in such a way that they rotate without contacting each other. When the rotor passes the inlet port there is increase in cavity generation simultaneously decreasing the pressure which persuade the pumped liquid to move into the rotor case between the rotor’s lobes and the casing but it does not pass between the lobes. Finally the pumped material move out of the outlet port.
